Forge Homes partnered with Single Homeless Project to raise awareness and support for homelessness in Camden through a unique community art initiative called Forge’s Four Walls.

On 2 May, we were proud to partner with Single Homeless Project (SHP) for Forge’s Four Walls – a community art initiative that transformed the hoarding surrounding our Camden development into a powerful platform for creativity, conversation and change.

Art with a purpose

For the event, artists transformed the walls surrounding our development with a series of one-of-a-kind murals inspired by real stories and lived experiences.

Rather than simply providing a backdrop, the artwork was designed to shine a light on homelessness and encourage conversations around an issue that continues to affect people across Camden and the wider London community.

Throughout the day, local residents, artists, community organisations and members of the Forge and SHP teams came together to watch the artwork take shape, learn more about the work SHP carries out and show their support for people experiencing homelessness.

The result was much more than a collection of murals. The walls became a way of giving important stories greater visibility and using creativity to connect people with a cause that matters.

Supporting Single Homeless Project

Single Homeless Project works across London to support people experiencing homelessness and help individuals build a more secure and independent future.

Through Forge’s Four Walls, we wanted to use our presence in Camden to help amplify that work, raise awareness and encourage people to support SHP through donations and essential items.

For us, collaborating with SHP was also an opportunity to demonstrate what responsible development can look like – recognising that our relationship with an area begins long before a building is complete.

Building more than homes

As a developer, construction naturally changes the physical landscape of an area. But we believe there should also be opportunities during that process to contribute positively to the communities in which we work.

Forge’s Four Walls took something normally temporary and functional – development hoarding – and turned it into something that could engage, inspire and start conversations.

It brought together art, people and purpose, while giving an important London charity another platform from which to tell the stories behind its work.

We’re incredibly proud of everyone who helped bring the event to life, from the artists and community members who took part to the team at Single Homeless Project.

Most importantly, we hope the initiative has helped more people stop, look, learn and think differently about homelessness.
